Sip The Rainbow

Variety is key to a well-balanced wine diet!

The world of wine travels so far beyond Chardonnay and Pinot Noir and so should you! Come to Current Vintage and ask us about the lesser-known varietals that create some of our favorite wines.

Paul Achs Blaufrankisch 2021 Burgenland, Austria

This Austrian red varietal creates medium-bodied wines with rich berry fruit, savory pepper and spice notes, and boisterous acidity. This bottling from Paul Achs is no exception! Each sip is impressively complex while remaining fresh and approachable. Pair with sausages and spaetzle.

Domaine Spiropoulos Moschofilero 2021 Mantinia, Greece

This Greek white varietal delivers floral aromatics, honeydew melon, ripe citrus and bright acidity. Domaine Spiropoulos has managed to create the perfect al fresco brunch wine. Pair with smoked salmon & capers, finger sandwiches, and sliced fruit.

Pietradolce Nerello Mascalese Etna Rosso 2021 Sicily, Italy

This red varietal primarily grown in Sicily creates light to medium-bodied wines that are often compared to fine Pinot Noirs. Pietradolce creates an elegant, mineral style of Etna Rosso that is characterized by notes of juicy cherries, berries, and earth. An excellent value bottle. Pair with BBQ.

Lasalde Elkartea Hondarrabi Zuri & Hondurrabi Beltza 2022 Getariako Txakolina, Spain

These Basque Country varietals create dry, slightly effervescent wines with mouth-watering minerality and salinity. This white wine leads with refreshing notes of lemon and green apple. The best beach wine. Pair with boquerones.

Weingut Beurer Trollinger, Portugieser, Zweigelt, & Spatburgunder Rosé 2022 Germany

This German blend is pure zippy energy! The ultimate summer thirst-quencher. Notes of wild strawberry, melon, chalk and that gorgeous acidity will have you coming back to this bottle on every sunny day. Pair with the beach.
